Well....it was bound to happen! UGH! Brody is officially sick for the first time in his life. He has been battling a runny nose since Sunday. He has been on and off since then. On Tuesday, he did good at daycare, but when I picked him up, his cheeks were rosy and he felt warm. I took his temperature when we got home and he had a slight fever. I gave him some motrin before he went to sleep and luckily, he slept all night. When he got up yesterday morning, he was really congested and I took his temp but he had no fever. We decided to keep him home from daycare and drop him off with my dad. I scheduled a doctor's appointment for him yesterday afternoon since he was congested and I wanted to make sure it wasn't all in his chest. His normal pediatrician was off this week so we saw another doctor in the practice. He was really nice and so great with Brody. He said that he thinks it is just a virus that needs to run its course. He said he should be better within 5-8 days! Crazy.....that is what one week in daycare will do for his virgin immune system.
Last night was pretty bad. He was burning up and I took his temp and it was 102.8. His eyes were red and he was having such a hard time breathing. We gave him a lukewarm bath and that brought his temp down. He could hardly keep his eyes open so we put him to bed around 6:30. I had to wake him up this morning at 6:45 to take him to my Dad's. Atleast he got a good night's sleep. I am going to stay home with him tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be better by this weekend.
Other than that, he is doing really good at daycare. I have limited my calling to once a day now...just to check on him. His teachers are really nice. They don't seem irritated when I call....atleast not to me on the phone! :) I spoke to one of his teachers the other day when I picked him up and she said that he is doing really well. I asked her how he is interacting with the other kids. She said that he plays really well with the other kids (there are 5 other kids in his class...it is a 10-16 month class so he is around kids his own age). She did say that after a while he will seperate himself from the others and come sit on her lap. She said that he is definitely more laid back from the others and hardly cries. She said that he does really well at nap time and they have played outside a couple times and does really well there too. Her only concern is that during their breakfast and lunch time, he jams his mouth so full with food that he almost starts choking. We have the same problem at home. It is like he can't get the food in fast enough. We have to separate the food when we put it on his tray. She said she is going to work with him on that. I told her good luck! :) So all in all....outside of the germ-infested kiddies :).....he is adjusting well to daycare.
I will try and post some pictures from last week later. I haven't really taken many since he has not been feeling well. I am hoping he recovers soon!
