Brody has decided that he can break free of the swaddle at night and proceeds to cry out for help. Sometimes, I can go in there and swaddle him back up and he will sleep for the rest of the night. For example, the night before last, he started crying at 1:45 and I went in there and his arms were out. I swaddle him back up and put the pacifier back in his mouth and he slept until 5:00am. Last night, however, he slept until 3:45 and started crying. He broke free of the swaddle and when I tried to swaddle him back and put the pacifier, he wasn't having it. I fed him around 4:00 this morning. I decided that I would put him in a sleepsack after I fed him and he cried on and off until I got him up to take him to my dad's.
He is also moving himself throughout the night so he is sideways in the crib when I get him. Sometimes when I swaddle him, he will arch his back and that must be how he is moving himself at night. Weird. I have been reading online today (which Tab gets mad at me for doing...she told me that I should do what I think is best and not what others think) and most people have said that you should stop swaddling them around 3-4 months. Brody will be 12 weeks on Wednesday (technically 3 months old) and I am just wondering if now is the time to stop. It is so frustrating because he has been sleeping for 8 hours for the past 3-4 weeks (with a few outlier nights) and I am just afraid that is all going to go out the window when I stop swaddling him. He also goes down so easy at night when he is swaddled. UGH! This stinks...I just am not sure what to do.
I am not sure what I am going to do tonight. I'll let you know how it goes!
