Pictures and Videos

Well...this sickness really kicked Brody's butt!! As of this morning, he was still sick! I decided to take him to the doctor again because he still had a fever and the congestion in his nose and chest seemed worse. She said that she thinks that his viral infection has turned into a bacterial infection and she prescribed an antibiotic! I am hoping that this antibiotic will kick in soon because he isn't getting better with just the other recommendations they had. My Dad is going to keep him tomorrow and we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be able to go back to daycare on Wednesday. He was only in daycare a week and 2 days and got this sick. Crazy! Hopefully, this is building up his immune system so he will be able to fight other sicknesses much better.

Since I haven't posted any pictures in a while, he are some from the last couple weeks. He loves to get into our cabinets in the kitchen and he is pretty partial to our strainer!

This next picture is of him and his first boo-boo. He fell on the play yard and cut his forehead. This happened just a few days after he fell at daycare and bruised his forehead. I am sure there are more boo-boos to come!
These next couple are of him eating spaghetti. He loves spaghetti and of course, he is not the neatest of eaters!!
This is a video of him puckering up and giving kisses. He only does it once in the video, but it is so cute!

This one is of him on his ATV that he got for his birthday. He has finally figured out how to work it. Sarah - even now, it looks like he is a couple weeks behind Samuel. This is similar to the video you posted a week or so ago!

Our First Sickness

Well....it was bound to happen! UGH! Brody is officially sick for the first time in his life. He has been battling a runny nose since Sunday. He has been on and off since then. On Tuesday, he did good at daycare, but when I picked him up, his cheeks were rosy and he felt warm. I took his temperature when we got home and he had a slight fever. I gave him some motrin before he went to sleep and luckily, he slept all night. When he got up yesterday morning, he was really congested and I took his temp but he had no fever. We decided to keep him home from daycare and drop him off with my dad. I scheduled a doctor's appointment for him yesterday afternoon since he was congested and I wanted to make sure it wasn't all in his chest. His normal pediatrician was off this week so we saw another doctor in the practice. He was really nice and so great with Brody. He said that he thinks it is just a virus that needs to run its course. He said he should be better within 5-8 days! Crazy.....that is what one week in daycare will do for his virgin immune system.

Last night was pretty bad. He was burning up and I took his temp and it was 102.8. His eyes were red and he was having such a hard time breathing. We gave him a lukewarm bath and that brought his temp down. He could hardly keep his eyes open so we put him to bed around 6:30. I had to wake him up this morning at 6:45 to take him to my Dad's. Atleast he got a good night's sleep. I am going to stay home with him tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be better by this weekend.

Other than that, he is doing really good at daycare. I have limited my calling to once a day now...just to check on him. His teachers are really nice. They don't seem irritated when I call....atleast not to me on the phone! :) I spoke to one of his teachers the other day when I picked him up and she said that he is doing really well. I asked her how he is interacting with the other kids. She said that he plays really well with the other kids (there are 5 other kids in his class...it is a 10-16 month class so he is around kids his own age). She did say that after a while he will seperate himself from the others and come sit on her lap. She said that he is definitely more laid back from the others and hardly cries. She said that he does really well at nap time and they have played outside a couple times and does really well there too. Her only concern is that during their breakfast and lunch time, he jams his mouth so full with food that he almost starts choking. We have the same problem at home. It is like he can't get the food in fast enough. We have to separate the food when we put it on his tray. She said she is going to work with him on that. I told her good luck! :) So all in all....outside of the germ-infested kiddies :).....he is adjusting well to daycare.

I will try and post some pictures from last week later. I haven't really taken many since he has not been feeling well. I am hoping he recovers soon!

Brody's First Day of Daycare

Today was Brody's first day of daycare. I was really nervous about this morning but he did great. I got everything ready and labeled yesterday morning so I didn't have to worry about it this morning. When we got there, I met his teacher and she was really nice. Brody did not act fazed at all. I was trying to keep it together and not start crying right there in the middle of the day care so I waited to do that until I got in the car. Before I left, Brody gave me a kissed and waved me on my way! I couldn't believe how good he was. I was wondering if he would cry or not want anyone else to take him, but I put him down and he just started walking all around.

It is now 2:00 a and I have called twice. This morning when I called, they were getting ready to go outside and the teacher said he was doing great and interacting with the kids really well. I felt relieved. I called about an hour ago and she said that he went down for his nap really well and was still sleeping. She said he was doing really good! That makes me so happy! I know he is going to like being there and interacting with all the kids. It will be good for him.

I am leaving work today around 3:00 to pick him up. Normally Ted will be picking him up, but I wanted to pick him today! My mom said this is one of the first of many milestones we will be making! UGH.....I am not ready for all of that!
