Shocker!

Ted left for Japan on Wednesday and guess what happened? That's right folks, Brody got sick! I am starting to think that he has separation anxiety when Ted is gone. I mean, for real? When I picked him up from daycare on Thursday, they said he was having some potty issues (I won't go into great detail, but you should know that is wasn't pee-pee). So, we left there, I went to the store to pick up some pedialyte and we headed home. Well, once home, he had a couple accidents and I gave him a bath and put him to bed. I was hoping that by sleeping it off, he would feel better. Well, not so much. About 2:30 Friday morning, he woke up and cried pretty much on and off until 5:30. When I went in there, it was a sad sight so I gave him a bath and brought him in the bed with me. Of coruse, there was definitely no way he could go to daycare so I stayed home with him.

Thankfully, he was doing better yesterday and much better today. I am guessing he must have just picked up some small bug, or he ate something that didn't agree with him. Either way, I am so thankfully he is feeling better. I knew it was bad when he pretty much laid on me all day on Friday.

I am hoping that this week goes better. Ted will be home on Saturday for a week and then he leaves for Hawaii for 2 weeks. I am hoping these trips go by fast. I know he is getting over them real quickly!

The little one is moving so much. I really don't think she sleeps or if she does, she only cat naps because I feel her moving most of the day. Even when I get up in the middle of the night to go potty, I get back in bed and she starts kicking. Hopefully, this is a pre-cursor to what she will be like out of the womb! I can't believe we have less than 4 months until she makes her appearance. Her furniture came on Friday. So, my dad is going to paint Ethan's new room this week, then when Ted gets back, we will move Ethan into his new room and start on Brody's new room. Then once he is moved, it shouldn't be bad from there because I don't really have to paint the baby's new room.....the current wall color matches her bedding. So, much to do and I know the next 4 months will go by so fast!

Anyway, hope everyone had a good weekend. I can't wait for Big Brother tonight...Tab got me hooked on the show and I am obsessed!

Weekend at Tab's

This past weekend, I went up to Tab's. Ted was gone doing hunt club stuff and I was going to help her out by watching Mallory while she had to help Kevin with a banquet. Let me just say, Brody has started to throw pretty bad tantrums when he doesn't get his way. Whew! He tired me out all weekend. He is on the go constantly and he seemed to be pretty grumpy. I am wondering if he is getting his 2 year molars, though, because in addition to being grumpy, he is also drooling ALOT! Tonight, he even turned down some cheese quesadilla, which never happens. (BTW - I think this little girl is going to come out say "Hi Papi and Caliente" because I can't get enough of Mexican!) Also, he was super jealous everytime I tried to hold Mallory. It was crazy. Ted and I are definitely trying to work with him and it is much easier when there are two sets of hands to help, not just mine. I know we have ways to go with the way he is acting, but I wish there was a magic wand out there that would make the tude go away!! The funny part is that he will act that way, and then turn around and do something super cute that makes me forget about the way he is acting until the next time. His newest thing is to come up to me and say "hey baby!" I say that to him all the time and he has picked it up and started saying it. It melts my heart when he does.
But, anyway, I got some cute pics of both of the kids, but unfortunately, I didn't get any of them together.
Mallory is starting to get more meat on her bones. Love these pics!

When I get the camera out, he has now started to say "Cheese!" This is his cheese-y face!

Uncle Kevin showing him a squirrel but he was more interested in the camera. That's my boy! :)

Ultrasound Pictures

Here are the ultrasound pictures of our little girl. She was all balled up yesterday so we couldn't get a lot of good pictures, but everything looked really good. She apparently is laying sideways, facing down. I have started feeling her kick more and more. I have also started to feel them more on the outside of the belly, not just inside. Pretty cool. It is getting more real and real everyday. Last night, we ordered the baby bedding and I am planning on ordering the furniture this week. It is so exciting! We are still working on switching all the rooms, but the good thing is that Brody's current room will not need to be painted since the color that is in his room will match her bedding. Our first task is to do Ethan's new room and move all of his stuff in there, then do Brody's new room and move all of his stuff in there. By the time the all the rooms are done, we should have all the furniture and bedding so we will be able to set that up.

We get Ethan this weekend! YAY! We haven't seen him in a couple weeks and it will be great to tell him what we are having. Not sure what his reaction will be. I am not sure what he will think about a little sister but we will see. It will be exciting!

So, here are the pictures of our little girl....it is nuts to actually say that now. We are going to have a daughter!!

And the Verdict is.............

So, today was my ultrasound. Everything looks really good and she checked the baby from head to toe and all is well. So......we are having a GIRL!! I totally had a feeling that it was a girl, but it is now completely different knowing that is what we are having. I can't believe we are having a girl. Ted is really in for it now.....2 Nicki's running around. That would tire me out!

Ted was so excited when the ultrasound tech told us. He definitely wanted a girl, but I would have been fine either way. But, now that I know it is a girl, I am pretty excited! Similar to when we found out with Brody, we were able to experience this with my parents and Tab. Thanks Mom and Dad! I am happy that we were able to experience this huge event again with both of you there. Thanks Tab for leaving Mallory for the afternoon and coming with us and thanks Kevin for giving me Tab this afternoon, even though you laid out dinner!! We had a nice dinner and I was happy she was able to come.

I am going to scan in the ultrasound pictures tomorrow at work and will try and post them. She (the baby) wasn't being very cooperative when it came to getting a good picture. The ultrasound tech said that she is sideways, facing down. They also said I had a low lying placenta, which my doctor said that they will probably do another ultrasound at 28 weeks to see if it has moved. He said that since I am having another c-section, this shouldn't be an issue, but they also think that the placenta will move by then. So, I guess we will see.

So, we will now have 2 boys and a girl! Ted said after this, he is done!! :)

Are You Kidding Me? Warning...Long Post!

Seriously, I didn't think this week could have gotten any worse. I am going to recap how everything has gone for us the past week in case you would like to know. I think it holds more impact when it is all put together in a nice little list, day-by-day. I will start with last Friday.

Friday - Ted left during the afternoon and went to Charlottesville to do some hunting stuff. Brody and I went out to dinner with my parents. Sometime that night, or early Saturday morning, Brody threw up all over his crib. When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere!

Saturday - I think this might be the only day nothing happened. Shocker! On a good note, Brody has his first beach excursion, which he was a total fan of! We will definitely do that again!

Sunday - In the middle of doing laundry, our dyer decided to stop working. Fantastic!

Monday - I woke up not feeling great but decided to tough it out. Ted went to get Brody up and discovered that he had a little accident all over his crib. We gave him a bath and he was completely lethargic. I decided to stay home from work since we both weren't feeling well. brody then puked all over me and our bed. Did I forget to mention that I don't have a workable dryer. I had to ask my neighbor to borrow hers. Well, once Brody went down for his nap, I started getting sick and did not stop until I went to the doctor and got IV fluids and an anti-nausea shot. They sent me home with more drugs too. I was feeling much better after that, thank God!

Tuesday - This was Ted's birthday and the day he left for San Diego. Brody had been feeling much better that day so we decided to send him to daycare. I stayed home to rest since I felt like I had been run over by a train. Ted dropped Brody off before he went to the airport. Well, before I went to pick Brody up, Ted called me and said that he must have gotten what we had because he was puking on the plane. UGH! I was hoping it had just been something Brody and I had eaten but it doesn't look like it. I went to pick up Brody around 4:00, head to my parents house for dinner and Brody pukes during dinner. At this point, I have no clue what is going on. Once he pukes, he is fine.

Ted said that he puked most of the day and into the night on Tuesday but stopped around 1:00 am on Wednesday and he has felt better since. Atleast it was a quick one.

Wednesday - This one is a doozy....hold on.......
This was the day that Brody's ENT appointment was scheduled. I had such a hard time getting this appointment, I wasn't about to reschedule. I got up, went to get him, and he had another accident all over himself and the crib! Great! I bathed him, rushed to get him in the car, pick up my dad and get to the ENT appointment on time. Good news...they don't want to do anything at this point. He said that his ears checked out fine, but if he gets another infection within the next couple of months, he wants to see him. Oh did I mention that Brody threw up a little bit in the waiting room. Yay, that was nice! So I leave the doctor's appointment and ask my Dad to keep him for the afternoon because there is no way I could send him to daycare. I call his pediatricians office and the nurse tells me to do the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. Also, I picked up a couple bottles of pedialyte to give him too. So, I get to work around 10:30, was there for a couple of hours, and started spotting. I had spotted a little on Tuesday morning, but figured it was just from being dehydrated and being violently ill. Well, I also noticed that the baby hadn't moved all day on Wednesday. Even though it is still a little early to be feeling regular movement, I felt the baby alot on Monday and Tuesday. I am hysterical and call the doctor's office and of course they want to see me right away. I get there and they do an ultrasound and luckily, the baby was fine. I saw the heartbeat and the baby brought his/her hand to his/her face. It was cute! He did say that my placenta is pretty low, which could have caused some of the bleeding, but he said at this point, he wouldn't be worried. Plus I have my 20 week ultrasound on Monday so I should know more then.

My mom met me at the doctor's and we left there to pick up Brody's prescription for some butt cream since his little hiney was raw from going so much. We head to my house because in the midst of trying to get out the door that morning, I washed his sheets and pjs out but I left them in the bath tub. We walk in the house and head upstairs and what do you know? My air conditioner is not working! And of course, Wednesday was the hottest day of the summer so far! It was 90 degrees in my house! So, I pack some things for me and Brody and we head to my parents house to stay the night. At this point, I am wondering who I pissed off?

Thursday - My parents were gracious enough to keep Brody on Thursday even though my Mom was off since I was still a little unsure about sending him to daycare. Even though he was feeling much better on Wednesday, I wanted him to get another good day of rest in. So I called the A/C people and they were able to come out the same day. My Dad met the technician at my house and I told them to call me once they found out what the problem was. Well, around 12:00, they call and they said our capacitor went out. Apparently not a big deal to replace. I said, "Thank God...what caused it?" The technician said, "Well, it looks like it might have been struck by lightning!" I just busted out laughing because at this point, what else was I going to do. I was really starting to think that someone was screwing with me. I mean....who does this happen to? Anyway, $150 later, we have air upstairs! YAY! I decided to stay at my parents again Thursday night since I had stuff all over their house and really didn't feel like rushing home until the house was completely cool.

Well around 12:00 am, my Mom wakes me up to ask for the anti-nausea medicine that the doctor gave me.....my Dad is throwing up. Oh no! I felt horrible. He started throwing up then and didn't stop until around 7:00 am this morning......which brings me to.......

Today - Brody has been doing much better the last couple of days so I decided to take him to daycare this morning. When I dropped him off, I gave them a heads up and told them that he hadn't been feeling good and has been on a bland diet so make sure he takes it easy and doesn't do too much or eat too much. I called them twice to see how he was doing and both times they said he was doing just fine. I went to pick him up and he was in a great mood. They said he did really good all day. We got him, I fed him dinner and was getting ready to give him a bath. He came into my room while I was going to change and proceeded to projectile vomit all over my floor. I mean exorcist vomit! It was crazy. I carried him to the bath, washed him good, stuck him in the pack-n-play in our room and cleaned up all the craziness. After that I got him ready for bed, rocked him for a bit and put him in his crib. I have the monitor up pretty loud so I can hear if he gets sick again. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he won't.

I called my mother to tell her what is going on and she said that she has now started to get sick. But the good news is that she was able to get some medicine for my Dad before she started so she is already getting some of that good stuff in her system. Hopefully, that will fight off whatever ailment this is.

So, my plan in the morning is to call the doctor's office and see if I can get him an appointment int the morning. I am not sure what else to do. Apparently, whatever bug he has, he can't seem to get rid of! I would suggest any and everyone to steer clear of the Teal and Crumb house. Thank God Ted comes home tomorrow night. I am not sure how much more I can handle!

Spoke too soon

Since I am here by myself, I figured I might as well blog.

Well, I am not quite sure what is going on with Brody. I went to pick him up around 4:15 today and he apparently did good at daycare. They didn't say he had any issues and if he did, I am sure they would have told me. I stopped by my parents house and before we ate dinner (which has been my first real meal in 2 days), Brody got really fussy. I figured he was just hungry so I put him in his chair and gave him some chicken to munch on until we were ready. Well....he really didn't want it. Which of course is shocking since my child has never turned down food. I thought maybe his teeth were bothering him, but I soon found out it wasn't the teeth. He threw up all over him, the chair and the floor. Once he did that, he was fine. So this has now been three times in the last 4-5 days that he has thrown up, just once, and then he seems to feel fine. I am completely stumped. I stopped off at the grocery on my way home to get him some pedialyte that I am going to give him in the morning. I am assuming he has some type of bug that he just can't get rid of. Either way, I wish I could help him. I hate to see him like that. But the weird thing is that he seems to bounce back from these episodes really well.

I put him down a little earlier tonight and rocked him a little bit before I laid him in the crib. I knew he wasn't feeling good when he just sat there and didn't even attempt to get his "goos," which is his word for books. He normally makes us read 3-4 books over and over again before bed. I brought him up in the rocker with me and he fell asleep within 2 minutes of us sitting there. It has been about 30 minutes and he pretty much has not moved from the spot where I laid him down.

This is just completely nuts. He has his ENT appointment in the morning, but I am also going to call his pediatrician tomorrow to see if she has any suggestions.

Apparently it was no fluke

Apparently, what I thought might have been a fluke with Brody wasn't. He must have picked up a bug or something. Sunday, we went out to dinner with my parents for Ted's birthday. It was yummy at the time, but not sure it agreed with us. I woke up yesterday morning feeling crummy but I was going to try and tough it out and go to work. Ted went to get Brody out of his crib and Brody had an accident in his crib so he put him in the bath. When we got him out, he just sat on my lap for a while. We brought him in the room with us and he just laid there. Normally, he is all over the bed, never sitting still. But not yesterday. He was so lethargic and actually fell back asleep. We knew he wasn't feeling good so we decided to keep him home. We gave him some juice and Ted went to go take a shower. Well, Brody puked all over me, and our bed. To make matters worse, our dryer decided to kick the bucket so I had no way of drying my sheets. Luckily my neighbor was home and graciously allowed me to use her dryer. Well, he threw up, he started to feel much better. Wish I could say the same for me.

I must have picked up what he had because I started getting sick every 30 minutes starting at 1:00. At around 7:00, my parents came by to take me to the doctor. I couldn't keep anything down. They said I was extremely dehydrated and put an IV in and gave me fluids. They also gave me a shot of medicine to stop the vomiting. I finally started feeling better before we left. I have not been that sick in a long time.

Brody felt much better and Ted dropped him off at daycare today before he left for the airport. He is going to be gone until Saturday. Luckily, it is only for a few days. I stayed home today. I am still really weak and extremely tired. I am hoping that by resting today, I will get my strength back.

The baby has started to make movements that I definitely can feel now. He/she is kicking every now and then. We have an appointment next Monday for my ultrasound and to find out what we are having. I absolutely think that this is a girl! I will be completely shocked if it is a boy. This pregnancy has just been so different, but then again, I have heard that alot even when people have two of the same so we will see.

I am going to try and take another nap before I go pick up Brody. I am assuming that since I haven't received any calls, Brody has done just fine. He is such a trooper! :)

Fun Day at the Beach

This weekend had both positives and negatives. I will start with the negatives first. Ted left on Friday afternoon to go up to his hunt club so he could do some stuff to start preparing for hunting season. I met my parents for dinner Friday night and we just went to our neighborhood Applebee's. We had a nice dinner and I got Brody home, bathed him, and put him to bed. When I woke up Saturday morning to get him, I walked in his room and was immediately hit with this awful smell. When I got closer to the crib, I saw that he had thrown up all over his crib. It was in his hair, on the floor, on the crib, everywhere. I couldn't quite believe it. I had no idea when he did it. From the looks of it, it seemed like he did it early in the night and it was there all night long. I was really surprised because he never cried out and I had no idea. Needless to say, ever since I got pregnant, my gag reflexes have not been the same so I had a really hard time cleaning it up all by myself. After I got him bathed and cleaned everything up, I brought him downstairs and he was acting completely normal. He had no fever, nothing. I figured he must have either eaten something bad or the milk he got was sour. Anyway, he has been completely fine since.

Since he was feeling better, after his nap on Saturday, I decided to take him to the beach for his first beach adventure. It wasn't crazy hot out so I thought it might be a good day. We met my friend and her boyfriend who live down there in the late afternoon. We stayed for a couple hours and Brody had such a good time. He has no fear. The waves were crashing against him as he sat in the sand and he didn't seem fazed. I have been worried about taking him because I wasn't sure how he would react, but he is at a such a good age, I thought it was a good time. Here are a few pictures from Saturday!

This was him on the way home...didn't make it very far. Tough day! :)
