Our First Break

So we have experienced our first broken bone with the kiddies.  For the longest time, I always assumed it would be Brody, but nope......it is Molly.  Yesterday, we took the kiddies to a little 4th of July celebration and they had a few bounce houses and bounce slides.  Molly was in one of the bounce houses by herself, with Ted watching her on the outside.  I was with Brody on one of the slides.  All of the sudden, I heard her screaming and crying and saw Ted fly into the bounce house.  By the time I got over there, she was laying on the bottom of the bounce house and Ted was trying to stretch her leg out.  She, of course, was screaming so we got her out, got her to the car, and she continued to cry all the way home.

When we got home, we tried to see if she would put any weight on it, and when she didn't, we decided to take her to the ER.  Well, after her physical exam and a few x-rays, the doctor said she fractured her tibia near the top of her shin, near her knee.  Holy cow!  What a freak accident.  I still can't believe she did that on a bounce house.  Anyway, the put a hard splint on her leg (from her toes to her thigh) and we have to follow-up with an orthopedic on Monday.  Until then, she is not able to put any weight on it and has to keep it elevated as much as possible.  I stayed home from work with her today and Ted will be with her tomorrow and Monday.  I wish the appointment was tomorrow, but they want to be sure they can see the break, especially if there is swelling.

So, poor thing has to be carried everywhere, or she has to get on the ground and scoot on her butt!  I am still in shock over the whole situation....who would have thunk a bounce house could be so dangerous, especially since she was in there by herself!

Here is a picture of her from yesterday at the hospital, after they wrapped her leg.

My poor baby!!
